Do you have a great gumbo recipe? If you do, plan on competing in the first Dauphin Island Gumbo Cook-off scheduled for Saturday, April 10th at the Isle Dauphine Club on beautiful Dauphin Island. Cook teams, restaurants and individuals from across the upper Gulf Coast are invited to compete in this first time event along the sugar white beach and rolling dunes of Dauphin Island, Alabama. Categories include tradition seafood gumbo, and others such as veggie, chicken and sausage, and wild game gumbos. All entries must be cooked on-site, including roux. Judges will include personalities such as Mobile Press-Register food editor David Holloway. The Dauphin Island Gumbo Cook-off is presented by the Dauphin Island Chamber of Commerce. Dauphin Island is just 22 miles south of Mobile at the mouth of Mobile Bay.
